Travel Information

The conference takes place in Gießen, which is located approx. 70 km north of Frankfurt am Main. Gießen can easily be reached from Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) by train or by car.

By Train

The regional train station Frankfurt (Main) Flughafen Regionalbahnhof is directly connected to the airport. From there you should take the "S-Bahn" lines S8 or S9 from platform Regio 1 (directions "Offenbach (Main) Ost" or "Hanau Hauptbahnhof" or "Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof"), to get to Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof or Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof tief. These trains go every 15 minutes, and the ride takes approx. 10 minutes.
From Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof there is a connection to Gießen Bahnhof at least every 30 minutes. You can take the regional trains R30, RB30, RE30, or RB40 (directions "Kassel Hauptbahnhof", "Schwalmstadt-Treysa Bahnhof", "Marburg Hauptbahnhof", or "Siegen Bahnhof"). The ride takes approx. 40 - 60 minutes.

A ticket for the connection from the airport to Gießen costs approx. 15 EUR and can be bought at the

  • DB TravelCenter (Reisezentrum) in Terminal 1, B Concourse, Level 0 and
  • Ticket machines in Terminal 1, Level 0.
More details about train connections can be found here.

By Car

Traveling by car from Frankfurt International Airport to Gießen takes approx. 40 - 60 minutes. From the airport you just drive on the highway A5 north to direction Kassel. At the interchange "Gambacher Kreuz" you have two possibilities.

  • To enter Gießen from the east ("Licher Straße"), you can stay on highway A5, and later take the exit "Fernwald" to direction "Gießen-Ost".
  • To enter Gießen from the south ("Frankfurter Straße", near the train station and conference site), you can first switch to highway A45 to directions Dortmund and Gießen, and later at interchange "Gießener Südkreuz" switch to highway A485. Then, at interchange "Dreieck Bergwerkswald," shortly switch onto highway B49 and take the exit "Gi.-Klein-Linden".
